Respite Schedule

DOES YOUR CHILD HAVE MEDICAID AND THE EDCD WAIVER???

Call the office to find out if your child qualifies for disability benefits.

Respite is always the 1st and 2nd Saturday of the month. If you have already filled out your child's medical form and application you may attend either/both respite days. If you volunteer you may volunteer for either/both respite days.

All respite days are held from 10am-3pm. Please check this website for locations. You must RSVP 5 business days before respite.

We often have special events at respite - please respect our guests by arriving on time.

December 6th: Christ Episcopal Church (Baking our annual Lace Cookies)

December 13th: Church of the Holy Word, Dunn Loring (Baking)

Also, Mary's Family is providing child care for Essential Pieces, an autism support group in Winchester. This is held every Thursday evening for 8 weeks. There is a waiting list.

Mary's Family is also actively involved with state-wide activities and is representing you in Richmond. Have a problem? Call the office and let's see what can be done. If you have any problem with yuor EDCD benefit, or school, or getting something done for your child please call the office. We can be very helpful.

Martha serves on the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities, and attends their meetings quarterly. Thank you, Governor Kaine, for appointing Martha to this state-agency.

Martha also serves on the Autism Task-force which will counsel the Joint Commission on Health Care in Autism 2008.

NOTE: Please bring canned food, clothing, toiletries, new blankets or new pillows to every respite. There are thousands of families who need these things. I know, we have problems too. But children need to be taught that giving to others is the most important act a citizen does. "But my child has a disability!" So what? Teach your child that they are part of the quilt that makes up the world, and they can be generous to others!
